Have you ever noticed that some of the beautiful old homes of yesteryear are almost always nearby? I am drawn to historic neighborhoods, especially in the South, for the story those homes tell. Capturing their classic lines on canvas against the texture and color of their surrounding plantings, with the century old trees, is an exciting way for me to freeze that "moment in time."

Gardens and Landscapes
Seeing the colorful plantings and patterns in the gardens that surround us, I find endless inspiration to paint them and bring their color and energy to my canvas.
Whether I'm walking through sun-speckled mountain aspen groves in Autumn or along garden pathways in historic Charleston or Savannah, the plantings, the colors and the architecture all combine to harmonize with their glorious surroundings. Capturing this vibrance in my paintings is always exciting to me.
Birds of a Feather
The luminous colors and reflections on moving water energize me and are such important inspirations for my paintings.
One of my favorite pastimes is strolling along the water’s edge, absorbing the interplay of sparkling water in picturesque coastal scenes. The shimmering color and energy of inland and coastal areas always gives me new inspiration for my work.
